Subaru Outback Door Lock Stuck

The rear left door on my 05 outback is stuck and both the handle on the inside and the outside won t open it.

Just something i need to get used to. The door can only be opened from the outside. When the child safety lock lever is in the lock position the door cannot be opened from inside regardless of the position of the inner door handle lock lever. In the end we have a working door lock and a journey.

If you re out of warranty as traildog said it s probably something simple that removing the door panel will find out. The only way i can open and close it now is by crawling through the car and using the small finger hole manual release. Well i mean i tried. The electronics seem to work but the lock is mechanically not able to fully move to the unlocked position.

The lock on the inside appears to be hung up on something and won t swing to the unlock position even with moderate force applied. A cable moves a lever within the actuator releasing the door handle portion from operating the lock actuator. It does however swing fully to the locked position without issue. If you don t need them you can probably fix it manually with the door panel off and be done with it.
